Lumiere, an iconic light festival originating in Durham, travelled to London for the first time in January.
From 14-17 January some of London’s most celebrated buildings were illuminated as artists from around the world created unique lighting installations. Completely free to attend and supported by the Mayor of London, the West End was transformed for this awe-inspiring festival.
At Oxford Circus artist Janet Echelman created a stunning interactive installation which allowed you to manipulate the light and patterns using a special app. Inspired by the strength of the earth’s vibrations during the 2011 Tsunami and Japanese earthquake, data from NASA helped form the base of this technologically advanced artwork.

Over on Air Street, an extraordinary projection of an enormous elephant made its way through the archways of Regent Street, created by Top’lá Design.

On the junction of Great Marlborough Street, LED stick men danced across Liberty House. Designed by Group LAPS, the animated sculpture brought this iconic building to life.
